Research Interests
My research activities focus on fisheries management and the sustainable use of fish resources, with particular attention to small-scale fishing. I have experience in the fisheries stakeholders’ involvement, especially fishermen, in the process to develop the co-management systems in order to promote sustainable use of fisheries resources. I have skill in the collection of biological, socio-economic fishing data, on catches and effort both on board and at the landing places and also about the national and community legislation on fisheries.
My other research topics include age and growth estimation in fish using otolith analysis, particularly in mesopelagic and bathypelagic fish species, and the taxonomy of Mediterranean cephalopods and fish. In recent times, I also study the impact of marine litter on marine organisms, including elasmobranchs and cephalopod species.
