REGOLAMENTO DEL PERSONALE ASSOCIATO 

La Sezione di Biologia ed Evoluzione degli Organismi Marini (BEOM) studia i meccanismi biologici che governano gli organismi marini e consentono la Vita sul nostro Pianeta nelle sue diverse espressioni.

Il know-how e gli approcci multi-disciplinari consentono lo studio

• dei meccanismi regolatori che governano lo sviluppo degli organismi marini - dalla fecondazione all’età adulta - e come questi vengono influenzati da fattori ambientali, e
• della machinery genomica, cellulare e neurale che sottostà alla plasticità biologica, fisiologica e comportamentale che consente l’adattamento e l’evoluzione.

BEOM studia, inoltre, gli organismi marini alla ricerca di prodotti e "processi" naturali per esplorare applicazioni biotecnologiche in vari settori, compresi la nutraceutica la salute umana.

Le competenze dei ricercatori, tecnologi e tecnici che compongono BEOM coprono un ampio spettro di ambiti scientifici che comprendono: la biologia molecolare, la biologia della riproduzione e dello sviluppo, la trasduzione del segnale, la regolazione genica, la genetica, la biologia cellulare e la bioinformatica, la genomica comparata, l’ecotossicologia, la biochimica, la fisiologia, la zoologia, le neuroscienze e la biologia del comportamento.

Tali competenze beneficiano della disponibilità e consolidata esperienza nello studio di vari organismi appartenenti a specie con diversa distanza evolutiva, rappresentanti dei Protostomi e Deuterostomi.

L’attività scientifica della Sezione BEOM comprende approcci basati sull’osservazione e la sperimentazione sia in campo che in condizioni controllate di laboratorio.

Gli approcci sperimentali impiegati includono, tra l’altro: manipolazione della funzione genica (e.g. knock-down, knock-out) inclusa la transgenesi mediante microiniezione ed elettroporazione; saggi biologici; spettrofotometria; spettrofluorimetria; tecnologie avanzate (high-throughput) quali genomica, trascrittomica mediante microarray, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, e Real Time quantitative PCR; imaging ad alta risoluzione mediante Confocal Laser Sheet Microscopy (CLSM) associata a fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) e immunoistochimica; microscopia elettronica SEM, TEM; elettrofisiologia, metodiche di neuroscienze comportamentali e cognitive.
