La mia ricerca utilizza gli isotopi stabili come traccianti per rispondere a domande di ecologia marina spaziale e trofica. Mi occupo dello sviluppo di modelli basati su dati e processi per fare predizioni e mappe della variabilità spaziale della composizione isotopica dei produttori primari alla base delle reti trofiche marine. Queste mappe, definite 'isoscapes' forniscono un riferimento a cui possono essere comparate le composizioni isotopiche dei tessuti biologici animali al fine di dedurre il luogo più probabile in cui i tessuti si sono originati o una migrazione, come anche cambiamenti di livello trofico o interazioni trofiche. Sono particolarmente interessata alle dinamiche spazio-temporali in ecologia isotopica e allo sviluppo di modelli che identifichino ed incorporino i meccanismi che causano variabilità isotopica.
