Research interests

I am interested in molecular evolution and ecology and in the application of molecular tools for conservation. The aim of my research project is to study Posidonia oceanica and Zostera noltei population diversity and connectivity using molecular markers, in order to be able to suggest improvements in the protection scheme of the coastline through the establishment of networks of marine protected areas (MPAs). Moreover, I’m interested in the role of genetic diversity for successful transplants, the interaction between anthropogenic disturbance and genetic diversity and the role genetic diversity may play in regulating sexual reproduction in partially clonal seagrasses.
